Gentleman's Gazette Shop Announcement

Gentleman’s Gazette Shop Announcement

Over the last three and a half years, we have received numerous emails from readers, and the majority of questions were about specific products we had written about. More often than not, we had to say that a vintage piece was found at a flea market or it was custom made by a craftsman and not really for purchase otherwise. Based on this demand, we decided two years ago to design unique products that would honor the values of the Gentleman’s Gazette – quality, enduring style and craftsmanship.

We searched four continents, compared and sourced many products, and developed prototypes again and again until we were happy with the way the product performed. It was truly exciting to develop our own products that met our standards rather than offering generic brands with the usual shortcomings.

When it came to choosing a brand name for our products, we had many discussions about what we wanted to represent. We eventually settled on Fort Belvedere. While “belvedere” is an Italian word that means  “beautiful sight”, Fort Belvedere was a Royal Residence and the home of Edward VIII from 1930 – 1936. At the time, he was probably the most photographed man in the world and undoubtedly the number one arbiter elegantiarum. Even today, he is often referenced for his unique sense of style. Together with Wallis Simpson, they lived an elegant life, throwing glamorous parties at Fort Belvedere until he signed his abdication documents at this very residence before seeking exile in France.

When we designed our logo, we incorporated elements of Fort Belvedere.

Today, we are happy to finally announce the opening of our store. We have tested each product extensively and hope they will likewise meet your expectations. However, should experience any difficulty whatsoever, please let us know so we can make it right.

You can visit the store by clicking here.

In regard to our product selection, you will a nice range of accessories, beginning with a selection of knit ties and 3-fold neckties in wool and silk. Most men have had a tie that is the wrong length, especially if they extend beyond the waistband. Most ties come in one size, or sized ties have limited pattern choices. Since fit and proportion are frequent discussions on the Gentleman’s Gazette, we decided to offer all of our 3-fold ties in short, regular & long so you can choose a tie knot without worrying about the length. We also offer a range of pocket squares, over the calf socks, and a great selection of scarves as well as a few leather goods, shoe horns, collar pins and boutonniere flowers. This is all just the beginning, and we will add more products in the weeks to come, so check back regularly.

You can visit the store here.

Of course, we also want to thank you for your support. Without it, we could not have created this website. Going forward, we will bring on additional authors to ensure that we continue to provide high quality articles about fine men’s clothing and lifestyle. The shop is simply an addition based on your interest. We will always continue with the Gazette and very much look forward to more improvements in functionality and content delivery – we have some great things in the works for 2014, so stay tuned!

Thanks again for your loyalty and continuous interest, we are happy to serve you.

Kind regards, Sven Raphael Schneider – CEO Gentleman’s Gazette & Creative Director Fort Belvedere

This is really very interesting. The selection of knit ties, for example… I’ve been impressed already with the number of independent/web-based startups in recent years who offer classic menswear, shoes, and accessories at excellent prices, cutting out the middlemen. But there are certainly a lot of things they don’t have between them, so another shop seems to makes sense.

      Thanks Gernot.
Most of them were made exclusively for us. I wanted to offer some very unique things that you can’t find anywhere else. I tested all the colors with various suits and they are distinctly different, yet discrete and work well. For $250 worldwide shipping is free. If that’s too much, order together with a friend and the the $ to EUR exchange rate is good for you at the moment.

I am impressed by the selection of knit ties. Their color patterns are very unique and I guess it is hard to come by more beautiful ones.
