Most traditional striped ties were club ties with Repp stripes. For a while, printed stripes were popular, and then jacquard-woven stripes. In recent years shantung stripes have softened traditional stripe patterns and made them more suitable to wear with all kinds of casual garments.
At Fort Belvedere, we always focus on quality and unique items. As such we designed exclusive two-tone Shantung stripe fabrics, which you will not find anywhere else.
The advantage of these unique shantung is that they pair with classic business outfits and casual combinations alike because the two-tone colors tie everything together.
What makes this Shantung Two-Tone Silk Tie in Bronze Orange, Green & Cream so special?
1. Fabric. The shantung silk used for this tie has the typical shantung knobs that are so characteristic for the fabric. On top of that, we added a finer silk yarn in a similar yet contrasting color to the weave, which results in a beautiful rich two-tone look that changes with the light, without being shiny. It's very sophisticated, and you have to see it in person to really appreciate its beauty. It pairs perfectly well with a pair of two-tone shadow stripe socks in blue and red. While not quite a grenadine shantung this fabric has a magnificent texture.
Exclusively woven for Fort Belvedere in Italy on heirloom looms, this fabric has a wonderfully soft finish that is different from regular Shantung ties. You can rest assured that this fabric cannot be found anywhere else.
2. Classic Pattern Reinvented. While traditional club or university stripes are always associated with a certain institution, we made sure to create a stripe that has no other associations, so you can wear it with pride. We sized the stripes so wide that it can be worn not only with solids and patterns suits but also with striped suits and even tweeds.
3. Handmade. These ties are entirely sewn by hand, which is important to lend tie the flexibility.
4. Outstanding Knot All Fort Belvedere ties are designed to form a stunning knot and feature classic 3-fold construction with an Italian wool interlining. All is held together by a 3-ply silk thread from Germany in Fort Belvedere green.
5.Ties in 3 Sizes. Fort Belvedere offers 3 different sizes so that each man can attain the ideal proportions for their height, no matter if you are shorter, tall or regular height.
SHORT - for men that are 5'8" - 173 cm or shorter
REGULAR - for men that are around 5'11 - 180cm tall
LONG for men that are 6'3" - 190cm or taller
Orange or bronze ties are not very common although that's a shame
Make no mistake, this is not a bold, in-your-face orange tie that screams for attention. It is mellowed by dark brown silk and creates a beautiful two-tone effect. The stripe in green complimentary color rounds out the look and the Cream stripe allows you to wear it to the office as well. This two-tone green tie is sophisticated and the purple and cream stripes create a great harmony.
That being said, it pairs particularly well with textured fabrics such as tweed or flannel but you can also wear it with a hopsack blazer or a pinpoint business suit. It looks particularly dapper with brown and green jacket but you can also wear navy or gray. Likewise, you can wear it with a tobacco brown or off-white linen suit in the summer.
If you have the basic ties covered, invest in some unusual shantung stripe ties because they will help you to get your personal style to another level of sophisticated elegance.
Begin by untying the knot it in the opposite way you tied it; never store ties knotted! Roll it up for a day to allow the wrinkles to relax, and then hang on a tie rack in your closet.
This silk tie comes in a heavy Fort Belvedere gift box.
