Skinny knit ties are available in two relative varieties: soft ties have a more flexible, smooth feel and Cri de la Soie ("cry of the silk") ties have a stiffer, almost crunchy feel to the knit. Here, we are offering you a soft, skinny variety in a mottled red by Fort Belvedere. It takes a number of steps to create these knitted pieces of art.
To create a one-of-a-kind skinny knit tie, we source a special silk yarn that is spun, dyed and customized to harmonize specifically with a rare, 70-year-old knitting machine. The yarns are knitted in a seamless tube shape, using a painstakingly slow, single-color process that can only be directed by skilled craftsmen. Each machine has a wheel which determines the pattern and texture of the tie. These wheels have to be filed by hand on a regular basis in order to ensure top quality knit ties. Once the knitting process is complete, the knitted silk is individually applied to a wooden mold, where they remain for a few days. The ties are then ironed and steamed to create the desired shape, and finished by sewing the top and bottom and the application of labels. Extensive quality control assures that each tie produced with a high attention to detail.
We're proud to offer such a unique, high-quality skinny knit tie that is produced using traditional methods - and without a doubt, one will be a great addition to your slim tie collection!
