Tyler Domecq is a script writer who has been contributing to The Gentleman’s Gazette since the fall of 2020. As a script writer, he offers new content ideas and composes scripts before they are handed off to the hosts. In particular, Tyler loves to inject his unique sense of humor into everything that he writes: Preston isn’t the only punmaster among us!

In addition to regular scriptwork Tyler has been involved in the refinement of the “Style Expert Reviews …” series. He was especially interested in this project because much of his initial interest in Classic Style was piqued by the Golden Age of Hollywood as well as contemporary media such as Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, Peaky Blinders, and Babylon Berlin.

Tyler’s interest in classic menswear began to develop during high school. At that time, he had a strong personal interest in movies and was making his way through the American Film Institute’s list of the all-time greatest American films; he was also exposed to The Great Gatsby in his English class. Through these media, Tyler was entranced by the costume design and aesthetics from the 1920s through 1940s in particular and wanted to learn why clothing no longer looked like it did back then. He stumbled upon the YouTube channel Real Men Real Style before eventually finding The Gentleman’s Gazette.

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”

Tyler has considerable workplace experience in the menswear sphere. His first job in high school was working at a J. Crew’s outlet store. While in college, he worked at both a local tailor shop and at Allen Edmonds, where he developed first hand his ability to value and assess quality materials and construction methods. In addition to his work with the Gentleman’s Gazette, Tyler is also a Digital Marketing Director and Realtor.

Having worked directly with a former bespoke tailor, Tyler has been in the unique position of physically feeling and interacting with quality hallmarks and materials during the construction phase of garments and accessories. This experience allows him to truly appreciate and understand what goes into a superlative piece of clothing.

From his work experiences, Tyler has gleaned a particular competency in understanding clothing construction. As a weightlifter who is also very tall, Tyler also appreciates the reality of shopping for Classic Style as a bigger and taller gentleman: this affords him special insights into the world of made-to-measure garments.

Tyler grew up in Wyoming but has lived in both Prague in the Czech Republic and Rome, Italy. In addition to weight lifting, his hobbies include gaming, both in the form of video games and tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons; frankly, he enjoys all aspects of science fiction and fantasy. Tyler has also been involved in the movie industry, working on several professional film sets and even appearing in commercials.
